LGBTQIA+ Support

At Sutton Women’s Centre, we provide a safe, welcoming and supportive space for all women, including cis and trans women, as well as non-binary people and others on the gender spectrum who feel that a women-centred space is right for them.

We understand that people in the LGBTQIA+ community can face unique challenges when seeking support, whether that is because of past discrimination, fear of not being believed, or not seeing yourself reflected in services.

Here, you are seen, respected and valued just as you are.

Who We Support

We’re proud to offer inclusive support for:

• Lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer and questioning women

• Trans women

• Non-binary people

• People exploring their gender or sexuality

• Late bloomers

• Survivors of domestic abuse and violence from LGBTQIA+ communities

Whether you’re seeking emotional support, a safe space to heal, or simply a place where you feel you belong, you are welcome here.

What We Offer

All our services are LGBTQIA+ inclusive, and we are continuing to grow our understanding and training to meet the needs of our whole community.

You can access:

• Low-cost counselling, with LGBTQIA+ affirming therapists

• Support groups, including LGBTQ+ peer spaces

• Workshops and wellbeing sessions (creative, therapeutic and practical)

• Specialist support for survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence or coercive control

• 1:1 emotional support and advocacy

• Information and signposting to LGBTQIA+ services and resources

If you’re unsure where to start, just let us know—we’ll help you find the support that feels right for you.

A Safer Space

We want everyone who enters our centre, physically or online, to feel respected and at ease.

• We welcome people of all gender identities and expressions

• Our team is committed to learning and growing in LGBTQIA+ awareness and cultural humility

• We use your chosen name and pronouns, and ask others to do the same

• Gender-neutral toilets and quiet spaces are available

• You are not expected to “prove” your identity - we believe you

If you ever feel uncomfortable or uncertain, please let us know. Your emotional safety and dignity matter here.

We know that no single experience represents everyone’s, so we work hard to listen, adapt, and keep learning from the people who use our services.

Get in Touch

Not sure if our services are right for you? We completely understand. You can contact us confidentially with any questions - no pressure, no judgement.

Our Commitment

We know that creating truly inclusive spaces takes ongoing work. Sutton Women’s Centre is committed to:

• Continuing staff training on LGBTQIA+ inclusion and trauma-informed care

• Listening to lived experiences and feedback from our community

• Reviewing our policies and language to ensure respect and accessibility for all

If you have suggestions or ideas, we’d love to hear from you.

Together, we can create a space where more people feel seen, held, and free to be themselves.
